Bixolon XT3-43 label printer
Labels sent to the XT3-43 from GoodLabel Designer are limited to 1,000mm long; the printer accepts up to 2,000mm. It is the 300dpi model of Bixolon's compact industrial XT3 series (max 6ips, 105.7mm print width); density on thick media is set with the printer menu and head pressure knobs.

The XT3-43 prints up to 2,000mm per label, but labels sent from GoodLabel Designer are limited to 1,000mm in length. The resolution is 11.8 dots per mm (300dpi), and compared with the XT3-40 on the same XT3 body, the max speed of 6ips (152mm/s) and the print width of 105.7mm (1,248 dots) are each slightly less.

The Density field in the Designer's Print window (0–30, default 21) is sent as ~SD before the first label of a job, and the Speed field (1–14, default 3) as ^PR. There is no confirmed record of these two commands taking effect on the XT3-43's settings, so set speed and density by the printer menu ranges.
Long labels and the Designer's length limit
The printer accepts up to 2,000mm per label, but GoodLabel Designer's label height field ranges from 5–1,000mm and the width from 10–500mm. So a single label printed from the Designer is limited to 1,000mm in length, and longer signs are designed as two labels.
At 300dpi, a label 100mm wide and 1,000mm long becomes a bitmap of 1,182×11,812 dots, about 1.7MB. When printing several copies of the same long label, enter the number in the Copies field, and this 1.7MB is sent only once, with the count following in a single ^PQ line.
When density is too low on thick media
The head pressure knobs, one on the left and one on the right, are marked 1–5 and are set to 3, the middle, at the factory. Turning them clockwise (toward 5) increases both the head pressure and the density, and turning them counterclockwise (toward 1) decreases them. Turn the knobs only while printing is stopped.
If printing is faint on thick synthetic paper, first try raising the density in the printer's setup menu, and if that is still not enough, raise the knobs one level at a time. Load only ribbons wound on a 1-inch core, and set the supply spindle to UP for 3–4-inch widths and to DOWN for 1–2-inch widths.

FAQ
- What comes out if I print with the 203dpi XT3-40 entry selected by mistake?
- The 300dpi head prints the image the Designer drew at 8 dots per mm at 11.8 dots per mm, so the label content shrinks to about 68% both across and down. Change it to XT3-43 in the Printer settings window, and the resolution is set to 300 and barcodes are recalculated.
- What should I select in the XT3-43's emulation menu?
- The XT3 series has only one emulation value, AUTO (SLCS, BPL-Z, BPL-E), and the shipment setting is also AUTO. The ZPL the Designer sends corresponds to BPL-Z (ZPL II) among these, so there is nothing to change.
- Do the Designer settings change if I attach the external rewinder?
- The Designer settings stay the same; change Print Mode in the printer's setup menu from Tear Off to Rewinder. The rewinder accepts rolls up to 130mm in outer diameter.
