GoodLabel YUPO labels are water-resistant synthetic paper (YUPO) labels, thermal transfer-only labels with "waterproof/ribbon required" in each of the 6 variant names. They are printed with a ribbon for long-term labels, in 6 sizes from 50×30mm to 100×100mm.

All 6 sizes are the sizes in the table above. In the set product, every 5 label rolls come with 1 ribbon roll of matching width.
80×100 and 100×80 have the same two dimensions but are different rolls. As the set ribbon shows, 90mm for 80×100 and 100mm for 100×80, the first number is the width across the roll, and the labels per roll also differ, 600 and 750.
Matching printers and ribbon grade
They need a ribbon to print, so they are for printers that support thermal transfer, such as the Zebra ZD421T and TSC TE210. To print waterproof labels on a direct thermal-only printer with no place for a ribbon, use YUPO direct thermal labels, which come in 9 sizes from 40×20 to 100×100mm.
For ribbons, the product names of both GoodLabel's Wax 300M (art paper, YUPO) and Wax/Resin 300M (YUPO) list YUPO. For labels that get rubbed or come into contact with water or detergent, the criteria for moving up from wax to Wax/Resin 300M are summarized on the wax/resin ribbon page.
GoodLabel Designer setup
- For the 70×40 size, open the asset management template (70×40mm) in Templates, and the item name, storage location and sample asset number fields are already in place.
- For the other 5 sizes, enter the first number of the variant name as the width and the second as the height in a new document. For an 80×100 roll, that is width 80 and height 100.
- When you change Print method to Thermal transfer after loading the ribbon, ^MTT is sent to ZPL printers such as the ZD421T and SET RIBBON ON to TSPL printers such as the TE210.
- Set Media type to Gap labels; for TSPL printers such as TSC, measure the space between labels on the roll you received and enter it in the Gap length field (default 3mm). ZPL printers find the gap with Detect media instead of this field.
- The 100mm-wide sizes print 800 dots wide at 203dpi, within the 104mm print width of the ZD421T (203dpi) and the 108mm of the TE210.

FAQ
- Do they print on a direct thermal-only printer without a ribbon?
- They do not. As the variant name says, these are thermal transfer labels that need a ribbon; to print waterproof labels without a ribbon, choose from the 9 sizes of YUPO direct thermal labels.
- Should I buy 100x80 or 80x100?
- Choose by the roll width you will load in the printer. The first number is the roll width, so 100x80 is a 100mm-wide roll of 750 labels and 80x100 is an 80mm-wide roll of 600 labels, and in a GoodLabel Designer new document you also enter the first number as the width.
- How wide is the ribbon in the set?
- It depends on the label size. 50x30 comes with a 60mm ribbon, 70x40 with 80mm, 80x60 and 80x100 with 90mm, and 100x80 and 100x100 with 100mm, 1 ribbon roll together with 5 label rolls.
- Can I quickly make the fields for a 70x40 asset management label?
- The asset management template in GoodLabel Designer Templates is 70×40mm, so open it as a new document, change only the item name and asset number, and print.
