Toshiba B-EX4T2 label printer
The Toshiba B-EX4T2 is a 4-inch industrial printer that takes 203dpi (GS), 300dpi (TS) or 600dpi (HS) heads on one body, with 600m ribbons; the HS accepts a label pitch up to 500mm. The B-EX4T2 (TPCL) entry in GoodLabel Designer has 203, 300 and 600 DPI buttons; click the one that matches the head.

The Toshiba B-EX4T2 is a 4-inch industrial printer sold with one of three heads on the same body: 203dpi (GS), 300dpi (TS) and 600dpi (HS). Each of the three resolutions is a sold variant. The B-EX4T2 entry (TPCL) in the GoodLabel Designer list has 203, 300 and 600 DPI buttons, so all three variants use the entry whose name and resolution match.

On the 600dpi HS, even a small 50x30mm label is drawn 1,182 dots wide, dividing 2D code modules and thin text the most finely of the three heads. In return, the pitch per label is up to 500mm, so even though the designer Height field goes up to 1000mm, design within 496mm (effective print length) for the HS variant. The print width is 104mm for all three heads.

600m ribbons and matching media widths
Ribbons are accepted at widths of 41-112mm, up to 600m long and up to 90mm in outer diameter. Unlike the 4-inch B-EX4T1, which takes up to 800m, the B-EX4T2 stops at 600m, so check the length of long ribbon rolls first.

A ribbon at least 5mm wider than the media wrinkles less, and a ribbon more than 5mm narrower than the media can still be loaded, but the printed width shrinks accordingly. Media width including liner is 25-114mm, and label width is 22-105mm for thermal transfer and 22-111mm for direct thermal.
Head lever positions and narrow media
- Set the head lever to LABEL when printing labels and to TAG when printing tags.
- For narrow media, you may need to set the lever to TAG or adjust the right head pressure.
- Media thicker than 200µm requires changing the head mounting position, so start thick tags with a test print.
- Label length and gap must be in a ratio of 3:1 or more, and for labels with a gap of 5mm or more, set the effective print length to the maximum (pitch - 2mm) and fine-tune the stop position.

FAQ
- Is designer printing slow on the HS (600dpi) variant?
- The HS head prints at 50.8-152.4mm per second, lower than the 304.8mm maximum of GS and TS. Choose the speed within this range in Print Speed on the Stock tab of the Toshiba driver.
- If I change the resolution with a separately sold head kit, what do I change in the designer?
- GS and TS can be switched with separately sold 203dpi and 300dpi head kits, and the 600dpi head (TPH6) is for the HS model only. After changing the head, click the DPI button of the B-EX4T2 entry that matches the new head in Printer settings, and barcode widths and module sizes are recalculated for that resolution.
- Can I load a ribbon longer than 600m?
- The B-EX4T2 accepts ribbons up to 600m long and 90mm in outer diameter. Unlike the B-EX4T1, which takes up to 800m, rolls longer than 600m are out of spec.
