Zebra ZT610 label printer
The ZT610 is a Zebra ZT6 4-inch industrial printer; its 600 dpi unit prints labels as short as 3 mm in tear-off and rewind, and it accepts only ZPL and ZPL II. Usable resolution and output mode combinations depend on label height; pick 203, 300 or 600 DPI on the ZT610 model in GoodLabel Designer.

What sets the ZT610 apart is a 600 dpi unit whose spec covers labels as short as 3 mm, and it accepts only ZPL and ZPL II commands, without EPL. GoodLabel Designer also sends only ZPL, and the ZT610 model has all three buttons, 203, 300 and 600 DPI, so for all three variants the model field is just ZT610.
Choosing resolution and output mode by label height

The shorter the label, the more options the 600 dpi unit has. On the other hand, 600 dpi has a programmable speed of 1–6 ips and prints a single piece of continuous media only up to 762 mm, so it is slower and shorter than 203 dpi (2–14 ips, 3810 mm) or 300 dpi (2–12 ips, 2540 mm).
The Designer label height field accepts up to 1000 mm, but for the 600 dpi variant keep it at 762 mm or less. For the resolution button, click one of 203, 300 and 600 DPI in the Printer settings window to match your unit.
Gap and black mark specs and Designer media type
- For the transmissive sensor, gap labels need a label gap of 2–4 mm (3 mm per Zebra), notches 6 mm wide and 3 mm long, and holes 3 mm in diameter. In the Designer, select the Gap labels media type to send ^MNY.
- For the reflective sensor, black marks need a length of 3–11 mm in the feed direction, a width over 11 mm, and a position within 1 mm of the inner edge of the media. The Designer's Black mark media type sends ^MNM.
- When you change to a roll with a different gap or mark position, send ~JC with Auto detect in the Designer's Troubleshoot window, or with the Detect black mark button that appears when the media type is Black mark.
ZT610 settings menu and the Designer
While printing from the Designer, Darkness, Media Type and Print Width in the unit's settings menu, and Print Method (when "Printer settings" is not selected), follow the ~SD, ^MN, ^PW and ^MT commands sent with the first label of the print job. Only Settings > Print Mode is not in the commands, so it is chosen directly on rewind, peel-off and cutter units; the reason is explained in detail on the ZT411 page.
Settings > Tear Off is overridden by ~TA once you change the Tear-off position field in the Designer's Advanced settings; if you have never touched that field, the value set on the unit stays as it is.

FAQ
- Which GoodLabel ribbon widths fit the ZT610 ribbon spindle?
- The 40–110 mm width variants are within the ZT610's 20–110 mm ribbon width, and the roll is wound ink side out, which matches the direction of the standard ribbon spindle. The ZT610 takes ribbon rolls with a 25.4 mm core and an OD of 81.3 mm or less, so measure these two dimensions on the roll you receive.
- What do I set in the Designer when I load continuous media on the ZT610?
- In continuous mode, the ZT610 cuts pieces only when the label format contains a label length. Select Continuous media (^MNN) as the Designer media type and enter the length you want in mm in the height field, and that length is sent in the ^LL command.
- Can the ZT610 read a roll with 10 mm wide black marks?
- The ZT610's reflective sensor requires black marks over 11 mm wide, 3–11 mm long and within 1 mm of the inner edge of the media, so a 10 mm wide mark is narrower than the requirement. Keep the Designer media type at Black mark (^MNM), but choose a roll that meets the requirement.
