TSC MH241 label printer
The MH241 is not listed by name in GoodLabel Designer v3.3.22, so the 203 dpi TSC industrial MH241 prints with MH240, the same TSPL 203 dpi entry. Speed and density saved on the panel are overridden by the Designer's Print window settings, and the printer accepts 20–114 mm media and 600 m ribbons.

The TSC MH241 is a 4-inch industrial model that prints up to 356 mm per second with a 203 dpi head and can print a single label as long as 25,400 mm. The GoodLabel Designer v3.3.22 model list does not yet include the name MH241, so select MH240, the 203 dpi entry in the same MH series, and print with TSPL commands.
Why the unlisted MH241 is used as the MH240 entry
When the Designer builds print commands, it takes two pieces of information from the model entry: the command language and the resolution. The MH240 entry is registered as TSPL, 203 dpi, and the MH241 is also an 8 dots/mm (203 dpi) model that accepts TSPL-EZD commands, so the SIZE, GAP, DENSITY, SPEED and BITMAP commands go out in a form that fits the MH241.
Automatic recognition, which fills the model field from the Windows printer name, works only when the name matches a model name in the list character for character, so the model field stays empty even if the driver name contains MH241. If you type MH241 directly into the model field in the New document window and click OK, a warning asks you to select from the list and the document is not created.
- The Designer shows only printers installed in Windows, so if the MH241 is not in the list, start by installing the TSC unified driver.
- Select that name in the printer field of the Designer's Printer settings window, and enter only MH24 in the printer model search.
- The MH240, MH240P and MH240T in the search results are all TSPL 203 dpi, so any of them sends the same commands, and each has only one registered resolution, so there is no need to click a DPI button.
The same method works for other TSC models that are not in the list. Any entry with TSPL as the command language and the same resolution will do; for 300 dpi models, select an entry registered as 300 DPI.
Where MH241 panel settings meet Designer printing
The MH241 gives commands sent by software priority over panel settings. Knowing which panel items change during Designer printing and which stay as they are helps you find the cause quickly when the screen and the output differ.
| MH241 panel item (TSPL) | Factory setting | When printing from the Designer |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | 6 (selectable 2–14) | Speed in the Print window (1–10, default 3) overrides it with the SPEED command |
| Density | 8 (selectable 0–15) | Density in the Print window (0–15, default 11) overrides it with the DENSITY command |
| Direction | 0 | DIRECTION 1 is included in every job |
| Print mode | Batch Mode | No related command, so it works as set on the panel |
| Offset, Shift X, Shift Y | 0 dot | No related command, so corrections entered on the panel apply as they are |
The Designer's Speed field ends at 10, so the SPEED command never exceeds 10. This means the 11–14 part of the MH241 panel speed range is not used in Designer RAW printing.
8-inch roll and 600 m ribbon conditions
The MH241 media width is 20–114 mm, thickness is 0.06–0.28 mm, and a single label can be 5–25,400 mm long. The standard spindle is for core inner diameters of 38.1 mm (1.5 inches) and 76.2 mm (3 inches); rolls with a 1-inch core require the factory-option spindle kit. The roll outer diameter is up to 203.2 mm.
The Designer's label height field is up to 1000 mm, so of the 25,400 mm length the MH241 accepts, the Designer can fit up to 1 m on one label. The print width is 104 mm, so labels up to 100 mm wide print without losing the edges.
Ribbons up to 600 m long and 90 mm in outer diameter on a 1-inch core can be loaded, with the ink side either out or in. The 300 m variant of the GoodLabel wax ribbon is 40–110 mm wide, so it fits entirely within the MH241's accepted ribbon width of 25.4–114.3 mm. The commands the three print method options turn into are the same as in the table on the TTP-247 page, which uses the same TSPL builder.
Red indicator and skipped labels
- If the 600 m ribbon or the 8-inch roll runs out during a long job, the red indicator flashes and the printer stops. The manual lists causes of flashing such as out of media or ribbon, paper jam and memory error; if the red light stays on without flashing, the head is open or there is a cutter problem.
- When labels are skipped, the three causes on the MH241 side are a label size mismatch, sensor sensitivity and dust on the sensor.
- In the Designer, match the label size and gap length (sent as the GAP command) in Printer settings to the actual roll, and click Detect media in the Troubleshoot window to send AUTODETECT.
- If it still repeats, blow the dust off the gap/black mark sensor with a blower and run Detect media again.
The locations of the Printer settings and Troubleshoot windows are shown with illustrations in the Printing chapter of the guide.

FAQ
- The driver name contains MH241, but the Designer's model field is not filled in.
- The Designer v3.3.22 model list has no MH241 entry, so it is not recognized automatically by name. Enter MH24 in the printer model search and select MH240 to set TSPL and 203 DPI.
- Can the Designer print labels longer than 1 m?
- The MH241 accepts a single label up to 25,400 mm, but the Designer's label height field goes up to 1000 mm. With the Designer, split the document into lengths of 1 m or less.
- I raised the speed to 12 on the panel, but printing is slow.
- In RAW printing, the speed in the Designer's Print window (default 3) is sent as the SPEED command and overrides the panel setting. Raise the speed in the Print window, but note that the Designer's Speed field goes up to 10.
- Can I load a label roll with a 1-inch core inner diameter?
- The standard MH241 spindle is for 38.1 mm (1.5-inch) and 76.2 mm (3-inch) cores. Rolls with a 1-inch core are used on units fitted with the 1-inch core spindle kit, a factory option.

BixolonBixolon SLP-DX423 label printerFor the SLP-DX423, you must select the SLP-DX423 (ZPL, 300dpi) entry in GoodLabel Designer; if you send to the 203dpi SLP-DX420 entry, labels come out shrunk to about 68% of their size. The printer is a Bixolon 4-inch direct thermal only model with a 105.7mm print width and a max speed of 5ips.
