TSC DH240 label printer

The TSC DH240 is a 203 dpi desktop model that prints only direct thermal labels with no ribbon mechanism, and it differs from the TH240 in the same series by also accepting linerless rolls with no backing. The DH240 is not listed by name in GoodLabel Designer, so print with DA220, another direct-thermal-only TSPL 203 dpi entry, in the model field (for how to choose a model that is not in the list, see the MH241 page).

Print method on the direct-thermal-only DH240

The DH240 has only three sensors — gap, black mark and head open — so it has no way to detect a ribbon end. Set the print method in Printer settings to either Direct thermal or the default Printer settings, and do not choose Thermal transfer. The command each of the three options produces is the same as in the table on the TTP-247 page, and labels that must be printed with a ribbon are handled by the TSC TH240, which also supports thermal transfer.

First register the DH240 in Windows with the TSC unified driver from the download center, then select that name in the Designer's printer field.

Designer settings for standard rolls and linerless rolls

A roll without a liner has no gaps, so choose Continuous media and set the document height to the cut length. The Designer's commands contain no cut or peel operation, so on the base DH240 without an LCD, change Print Mode in TSC Console or the driver to Cutter Mode for the cutter module or Peeler Mode for the tear-off module (on the T model with a touch LCD, you can also change it under Setting in the LCD menu).

DH240 media width and roll conditions

The DH240 accepts media 15–120 mm wide, narrowing to 15–112 mm including the liner when a peel-off module or cutter is installed. The head prints 108 mm, so even the 100 mm width of GoodLabel thermal roll labels falls entirely within the print area. Labels as narrow as 10 mm can be loaded only with the 10 mm adapter, a user option.

Use rolls wound with the printed side out, with a core inner diameter of 25.4–38.1 mm and an outer diameter of 127 mm or less. The black mark sensor has an adjustable position, so when you load a black mark roll, align the sensor with the line where the marks pass, click Detect black mark in the Designer, and turn the power off and on as instructed.

What to check by print position symptom

The left or right side of the label is cut off

The label size setting is wrong. Set the width in mm in the Designer's Printer settings to exactly the actual label width.

Vertical position is off on small labels

Possible causes are sensor sensitivity, label size, the printer's Shift Y setting and the driver's vertical offset. Recalibrate the sensor, match the Designer's label size and gap length to the actual roll, then adjust any remaining difference with Shift Y in TSC Console. The Vertical offset in the Designer's Advanced settings also moves the print image up or down, and when printing through the driver with "Print as image", check the driver's vertical offset as well.

Labels are skipped one at a time

The label size is wrong, the sensor sensitivity is wrong, or dust covers the gap/black mark sensor. After correcting the size, recalibrate the sensor with automatic or manual gap calibration, and blow dust off the sensor with a blower.
